Welcome to Puffin Rock!

Baba Boo!

Puffin Rock follows the adventures of Oona, her little brother Baba and their family and friends on a gorgeous and wild Irish island. Renowned for its gentle storytelling, Puffin Rock episodes are rich in natural history and told in a lush, unique visual style.

We make Puffin Rock with our friends at Cartoon Saloon, managing the brand from music to merchandise to socials, and working together on plans as one big Puffin family. The Puffin Rock movie was the first animated film ever produced in Northern Ireland and our emmy-nominated TV show continues to flourish and find new fans worldwide

Season 3 x BBC

Streaming on Netflix for over 26.7 Million hours in 2024, our Puffins have become firm favourites in homes across the world, in over 120 countries from RTE in Ireland to Disney in Japan to RUV in Iceland.

2025 was a huge year for us as CBeebies became our new home in the UK! Seasons 1 + 2 launched on iPlayer, along with our movie, before Season 3 had its premiere in September. Take a look at the CBeebies page for more details (and some fun things!)

Puffins and Chill...

Puffin Rock is beloved by parents as a low-stimulation show for their children. Rooted in nature, with stories which celebrate friendship and kindness, our episodes are bathed in a gorgeous sound world of orchestral music and seaside ambience. It all adds up to cosy TV!

Forbes magazine picked Puffin Rock alongside Bluey as two kids shows which are “safe and enriching” for young viewers, and we regularly appear on top ten lists of gentle content for children.

Behind the Scenes

We’ve worked on Puffin Rock with Cartoon Saloon since early development in 2012, creating a picture book and designing an app before embarking on our animated adventures.

As well as a talented crew from all over the world, our first ever production included a full cast from Derry and the surrounds (apart from Chris O’Dowd!) something which we are hugely proud of.

Season 3 carries on this tradition… Puffin Rock continues to be a celebration of the talent we share between Kilkenny and Derry.

Social Animals

We run Puffin Rock socials, engaging with fans of the show from around the world. For super cute content + some Chris O’Dowd go follow on Instagram, YouTube, Facebook and TikTok

Puffins x W5

W5 is Northern Ireland’s award-winning science and discovery centre and the home of a new series of Puffin Rock experiences.

This collaboration will bring a series of engaging events to W5, featuring the characters, locations, and habitats from the show, delighting young fans and their families.

The fun began in Summer 2025 with costume character, story time, sketch club, immersive digital experience and cinema screenings… we are cooking up big plans for the future.

Puffins and Popcorn

Puffin Rock and the New Friends is the first ever animated movie produced in Northern Ireland, a proud first for us. The film was also a first for many fans of the show, a first family trip to the cinema to see an animation made for pre-schoolers.

We took the island and characters we knew so well, and folded in bigger themes of belonging, immigration and climate change. How does it feel to move somewhere new? How does it feel when a stranger arrives in your community?

“Things will be ok if we work together” is a central message of Puffin Rock, alongside care and consideration for our natural environment, and these shine through in our movie (alongside our standard gorgeous animation, gentle storytelling and super cuteness).

“Known as one of the few cartoons that parents of pre-school kids can enjoy too, this is a tiny bit more grown up, but still a gorgeous, wholesome delight.”

"This is a gorgeous mood piece that displays immense sensitivity, both for the childlike characters on screen and for the wonderment of its impressionable audience.”

“An elemental, gentle, and incredibly cute animated adventure for all the family”

“The story is almost as simple as the sublime, storybook-like animation... Throw in a delightful score, thrilling plot twists and funny, educational narration, and you have yourself a winner.”
